Prince Edward County, an island county in Lake Ontario east of Toronto, is a country of farms, wineries and small towns; Sandbanks Provincial Park has its beaches and dunes, and the Drake Devonshire sits on the water at Wellington.

Sandbanks

Sandbanks Provincial Park, run by Ontario Parks, is known for its beaches and dunes on the lake; reserve day-use in summer through Ontario Parks.

Wellington

The Drake Devonshire is, in its own words, a lakefront boutique hotel in Wellington, with artful rooms, lakeside patio dining and a sauna.

Go by car and stay a night.

Our advice: autumn, after the summer crowds, is the best time for the wineries.
