Toronto is a city of the subway and the streetcar. Line 1 runs in a U up Yonge Street and University Avenue, Line 2 crosses the city along Bloor and Danforth, and the new Line 5 Eglinton and Line 6 Finch West have joined them; the red streetcars run along King, Queen, College and Spadina. You pay with a PRESTO card, a contactless credit or debit card or your phone. From Pearson airport, UP Express reaches Union Station in 28 minutes; Billy Bishop airport is on the island at the foot of Bathurst Street. GO trains and VIA Rail leave from Union Station for the region and the rest of Canada.

Arriving

UP Express runs from Pearson Station at the airport to Union Station downtown in 28 minutes, stopping at Weston, Mount Dennis and Bloor (UP Express). Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, at the foot of Bathurst Street, is reached by ferry or pedestrian tunnel (PortsToronto).

Around the city

The TTC adult fare is $3.30 with PRESTO or a credit or debit card and $3.35 in cash; a PRESTO day pass costs $13.50, and monthly fare capping applies when you tap the same card (TTC). The island ferries leave from the foot of Bay Street.

Out of the city

GO Transit runs regional trains and buses from Union Station, including to Niagara Falls; VIA Rail’s trains leave for Montréal, Ottawa and beyond.

Tap a contactless card or phone; the TTC adult fare is the same as with PRESTO.

Our advice: on a long day, buy a PRESTO day pass; otherwise just tap your card.
